Hi, my name is Mengyi Wang. I am a Chinese language educator who is passionate about creating emotionally safe, inquiry-driven, and interculturally grounded learning spaces for young people. I currently teach in the Chinese Language Program at Cornell University, and I see language education as both a human journey and a way of understanding the world. Chinese is not only knowledge to be learned, but a perspective through which students can see relationships, values, and cultures differently.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that warm, human-centered education empowers students to develop confidence and courage. In my classroom, students are not simply learners but companions walking alongside me. Authentic communication, a student-centered approach, and intercultural perspectives form the foundation of my teaching philosophy. With empathy and careful observation, I strive to truly understand my students' needs and support them in expanding their cultural and linguistic horizons.
Beyond teaching, I believe that genuine connection grows out of sincerity, depth, and curiosity rather than from roles or utility. I value conversations in which two people meet as whole selves, truly see one another, and listen with respect. This guides not only my relationships with students but also my approach to collaboration and community.
Currently, I am exploring ways to integrate student-centered learning with emerging technologies to design innovative, inclusive, and interculturally grounded Chinese learning experiences. If you would like to connect, discuss a project, or explore potential collaboration, please feel free to reach out by email. I would be glad to continue the conversation with those who resonate with this vision.
